What Is a Discovery Flight?

A discovery flight is a one-on-one introductory flight lesson with a certified flight instructor (CFI). You’ll meet at our training center at Falcon Field in Mesa, do a quick ground briefing, and then take off in one of our modern training aircraft for 30–60 minutes of real, hands-on flying.

Here’s what it entails:

  • A pre-flight briefing to orient you to the aircraft, avionics, and flight controls

  • A 30–60 minute flight in one of our training aircraft, with you in the pilot’s seat

Day of Your Flight

1. Meet Your Instructor

Upon arrival at Falcon Field in Mesa, you’ll be welcomed by one of our certified flight instructors — a professional committed not just to your safety, but to making this a meaningful introduction to aviation.

2. Pre-Flight Walkaround

You’ll complete a guided walkaround of the aircraft, learn the fundamental principles of flight, and review the plan for your time in the air.

3. Take Off Together

You’ll taxi, take off, and fly under the instructor’s supervision, with an opportunity to handle the yoke, perform basic maneuvers, and observe how real training unfolds.

4. Debrief & Next Steps

After the flight, we’ll review the experience with you, answer your questions, and (if you're ready) help you map out a training path for your private pilot license.
